"Kingston, the original capital of New York and seen as the most important location between New York City and Albany, became a target for British soldiers less than two weeks after the Second Battle of Saratoga. The 150 soldiers of the Ulster Militia were outnumbered eight to one against 1,200 British soldiers who arrived on October 16, 1777, burning down over 300 buildings. Fortunately, few casualties were reported, and the city quickly rebuilt itself. Over 100 years later, the true story of the Burning of Kingston became the subject of an 1883 novel, Rachel Du Mont: A Brave Little Maid of the Revolution, which is now recognized as culturally significant and part of the public domain at the Library of Congress.
This straight bourbon whiskey is composed of New York corn, malted barley, rye, and wheat that has been fermented, double distilled, and aged for a minimum of three years in new, charred American oak casks.
