According to viking legend, Blenda was the leader of the women who rallied to defend against the attacking Danes when all the men had left to fight against Norway in the 6th Century. The women seduced the Danish men and killed them after a night of mead drinking. When their men returned, their King Alle bestowed new rights on the women of Norway, e.g. equal inheritance with their brothers and husbands.
